human-water.gifWater has been on my mind lately.  It is a good thing to have on my mind too, given I don’t get enough of it. Perhaps writing about it may connect me to it more, help me to remember how important it is for me to drink and remember what an absolute blessing it really is.

Apparently in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:2
                                                    Now
                                                the earth
                                   was formless and empty,
darkness was over the surface of the deep
                                               and the

                                           Spirit of God
                                           was hovering

                                        over  the waters.

According to Genesis, water has been right from the start.

The human body is made up of over 70% water. Our blood is more than 80%‚ our brain … over 75%‚ and the human liver is an amazing 96% water!

John 7:38

                                            Whoever
believes in me, as the Scripture has said
                                   streams of living water
                                                                            will flow from within him.

2 Peter 3:5(b) states
                          The
                         earth
                   was formed
out of water and by water
                                           (NIV)

Water is considered a purifier in most religions. Major faiths that incorporate ritual washing (ablution) include Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and Shinto. Water baptism is a central sacrament of Christianity; it is also a part of the practice of other religions, including Judaism (mikvah) and Sikhism (Amrit Sanskar).

You are absolutely right about water – it is essential to life. A human can live for a long time without food, but not for many days without water. All animals need water to live, and what I find interesting is all the ingenious ways certain creatures have adapted to living in water scarce environments, eg. the camel, or numerous desert animals (and plants).

Did you also know so I am told water is the only liquid that freezes from the top down? All other liquids/Gases freeze from the bottom up. Just think God know what he was doing when he made the world because if water froze from the bottom up them fish would die and we would also because we could not break the ice to drink!.
Our God new what he was doings.

Blessings

Steve.
